Matt Korovesis with the Outdoorhub reports that the RWC Group, official importers of Russian made AKs, will be opening a factory in the U.S. later this year. The U.S. manufacturer is called Klashnikov USA. According to his report, the announcement was made at this year’s Shot Show, in Las Vegas, to the delight of many of its attendees. Three states are currently competing for the manufacturing sight.
Jim Kelley, Kalashnikov USA’s production manager was quoted as saying that he anticipates rifles will begin to come off the production line as soon as Q2, 2015. According to Kelley, 80% of current Russian made products will be made in the U.S. facility; that could include shotguns, conventional rifles, and possibly a 9x19mm carbine.
