Marine Corps Times reported, today, the U.S.M.C. has banned the use of polymer magazines. In a message signed by Lt. Gen. Richard Mills, the Marine Corps’ deputy commandant for combat development and integration, the order goes into effect immediately. Scuttlebutt about sporadic bans, based on weapon compatibility, surfaced earlier in 2012. Lt. Gen. Mills’ message makes the ban official across the service.
Magpul Industries, has released a Gen III magazine, which the manufacturer claims eliminates any compatibility issues.
It’ll be interesting to see if the U.S.M.C. reconsiders its position, but for now the ban is effective Marine Corps wide. Will the Army and Navy follow suit?
