A Word or Two About Training…

What prompted this post is a conversation I had recently with an individual who is neither intelligent enough, nor responsible enough, to attend tactical carbine and pistol training.

Folks, what you watch on You Tube videos is designed to entertain you and to get your business, keep that in mind. It’s not dishonest, it’s marketing. It is not intended to duplicate what you will likely encounter under actual combat situation.

Having said that…

  • If you run up to open windows, you will last about 2 nanoseconds.
  • If you run through open doorways, you’re next stop is a morgue.
  • If you get under vehicles, your opponent will turn you into swiss cheese with ricochets.
  • If you fast rope while shooting and using one hand, you will fall and look stupid.
  • If you run through corridors kicking doors in you’ll set off a frag about waist-high.

I can add much more but God I hope you get the message. Guys, go out and have a blast; take out as many paper targets and ding as much steel as you like. It’s fun, and you’ll learn some things but when the day is done, return to earth.

Approach your training like you do academics. Check out the philosophy, school and trainers.

Instructors and schools:

  • Please do not let your trainees leave with the notion that what they just did is combat training.
  • Run NICS on any trainee that is not part of an LE , military or corporate contract.

I’m sorry if I’ve offended anyone but I had to get that off my chest.
